Alan R Davison at Hard Rock Cafe

Hard Rock Café George Street Edinburgh are holding a host of acoustic gigs late at night during the Fringe and I popped along to see someone I have played a few times on my What's New in Music Show Alan R Davison.

Alan was brought to my attention by Keith and Graeme Easton from Woosh Entertainments and this was the first chance I have had to see Alan perform live and I have to say what a great musician, great voice and a good guitar player.

I have often thought that playing to a small intimate crowd on an acoustic guitar no gimmicks no lights or special effects would be more daunting than playing to a much larger crowd in place's like The Liquid Rooms or the HMV Picture House never mind a restaurant but if it is it never showed on Alan as he played every note and sang every word as though he were playing a large venue.

Alan's album The White Eagle Lounge is out now and is a good album tracks from the album like Left Turn and You Were Right were aired and sounded great as were the covers of Snow Patrol's Chocolate and Biffy Clyro's Many of Horror all well received by an appreciative audience.

Next up for Alan is The Songwriters Circle where Alan will be with the very talented Douglas Kay and also Carol Laula on Thursday 15th August at The Jazz Bar, Chambers Street, Edinburgh at 10pm so pop along if you can to see some fine musicians at work.
