Stephen Bailey: Nation's Sweetheart, Review

★★★★
Just the Tonic at The Caves | £5.00/FREE | 19:20
Stephen was one of my favourite Fringe acts of 2015 and this year he’s back with a brand new show ‘Nation's Sweetheart’ It's not your traditional standup hour with an overarching theme or tale. Rather, throughout his set you feel like you could be sitting opposite him drinking a bottle of wine and chewing the fat as he dishes out gossip and stories from his own life.

Topics range from his mum and dad's discovery of Snapchat, the latest Big Brother to his appearance in a tabloid newspaper….all while canvassing the opinion of the audience.

Although he has found himself in yet another one of Edinburgh’s dark underground venues Stephen brightens it up with his charm, engaging with the audience, winning them over with his openness (pretty much giving out his mums phone number to collaborate his stories) and willingness to joke about his own situation.

You can catch Stephen at 19:20 in Just The Tonic until the 28th of August for free or you can guarantee entry by booking in advance for £5 edfringe.com
