Adam is the closing night film of this years Edinburgh International Film festival and in my opinion a great choice.

To sum up Adam is a film that left me for some strange reason feeling warm on the inside. Its a different twist on a romantic comedy.

The film revolves around (surprisingly enough) a young New Yorker called Adam who has Asperger's syndrome, a condition on the autism spectrum. The film starts with Adam dealing with the death of his father and the changes that brings to his strict routine. Cue the appearance of Beth (Rose Byrne) a children's writer recovering from a previous relationship who takes an instant liking to Adam. As the relationship grows into something more special you feel for the characters. Rose try's to understand Adam and help him develop. Adam meanwhile is trying to learn the rules of courtship and how to deal with emotions. The comedy keeps the film rolling and some great moments are created (one involving window cleaning in a space suit)

Adam is played by British actor Hugh Dancy who reminds me a bit of Tobey Maguire. He plays the character really well and convincingly portrays a person with Asperger's with skill.

A film with lots of moments which will make you smile on the inside and the outside I would highly recommend it to anyone.
