Black Diamond has been broadcasting for three years

By John Ritchie - Posted on 29 March 2010

Black Diamond has been broadcasting since the 29th of March 2007, so it is our third birthday. We have two years left on this present licence.
We have to praise the efforts of all the broadcasters who helped us get to this milestone, their input has been fantastic remembering that no one in this station receives any remuneration,it is all voluntary input, just to keep your Community station up and running, requires a great effort from all concerned, presently some 46 plus volunteers. We have had contributions from six to ninety year olds showing the breadth and depth of our station, and long may that continue.
Our mission has always been to provide the best Community Radio for the people of Midlothian,we do not always get it right, nobody is perfect, but we do try our best to keep our standards as high as possible. We are always open and ready to listen to sensible constructive suggestions that will improve the station and its contribution to serve the community of Midlothian.
In the next year we are looking to further the present situation with new developments and from time to time we would welcome your support and help with these new developments which hopefully will take us through to the next five year licence period.
I have always said that Black Diamond, Midlothian Community radio would never work unless the community and the people of Midlothian and the area claimed ownership of the station ,this they have continued to do, and so the station thrives and grows, due to your listener-ship and input.
So thank you again to all who have contributed to the station in any way,we are all very grateful.
John Ritchie
Chairman of MCMA and the person responsible to OFCOM for the licence and the content of Black Diamond Radio
