The Free Fringe Festival Kicks Off

The Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival is back celebrating its 12th year. With over 300 shows in venues all over the city there is a lot on offer. Including brand new for this year a set of children’s shows on at the Free Sisters.

This year’s jam packed launch kicked off at the Free Sisters, with the party atmosphere in full swing. Not even the rain could dampen people’s spirits. Cheesy music blaring from the speakers and with a yellow chicken on the loose MC Nick took to the stage.

After a few words from Director Alex Petty wishing everyone a good festival it was on with the Showcase.

Starting off with Danish Bagpipe Comedian Claus Riess taking audience music suggestions. Then turning them into comedy, including a witty Star Wars number. Mute Matt then closely followed, presenting some funny audience participation silent movie gags. Janey Godley then took to the stage followed by Papa CJ bringing some international comedy to the Free Festival. Titty Bar Ha Ha fought over a man. Whilst delusional celebrity stalker and cruise ship entertainer Lance could not be stopped from giving a complete abbreviated version of the Sound of Music.  Liam Williams Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee 2014 was followed by Puppet Fiction’s late night chat show. With Mike Wozniak bringing the show to its conclusion. The audience then continued to party late into the night.

So if you’re counting the pennies check out the Free Edinburgh Festival Fringe website to see what’s on near you.
