Abandoman – Moonrock Boombox, Review

ABANDOMAN

Rating: ★★★★
9th-26th August @ The Underbelly, Bristo Square

To be honest I never knew what to expect from when I was heading to see a improvised rap show, but I am so glad that I did!

Moonrock Boombox sees the band blast us to the moon with a vast amount of energy from the first cord being played.

Front man Rob scouts the audience to pick out the central characters that our story will revolve around for the next 60 minutes, managing to integrate the sometimes boring facts about them into intricate tracks that will turn them into heroes.

The three piece backing band are remarkably talented and in sync with Rob at all times, quickly adjusting the tracks and choosing when to join in with the rhymes. During the interaction with the audience they provide funny quips and silly sound effects to brighten up even the most boring of participants.

There is no doubt that the powerhouse behind Abandoman is Rob Broderick who is remarkably quick both in wits and rhyming skill. Without him the show would simply not work, he engages the audience and loves bouncing off the crowd.

Go along the this show and prepare to rock your way to the moon, battle in space and be transported into a world where music rules the world!

If you are looking for a fun, engaging and different show to see this year in between all the stand-ups this is what you want to see.

‘Moonrock Boombox’ is on at the Underbelly, Bristo Square until the 26th of August: BOOK TICKETS
