Hall Of Fame: Rayguns Look Real Enough, Review

★★★★★

The Voodoo Rooms (Venue 68) | 19:45 | £10 |

Judging from the title of the show I was not sure what to expect when I entered the Voodoo Rooms on Saturday night. All I knew was that I like the pew pew noise ray guns make in films. What I didn’t expect is one of the best musical acts I have seen at the Fringe.

The show follows the band Rayguns Look Real Enough as they perform the biggest concert of their lives to get themselves inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame!

Don’t get fooled into thinking this is just another rock band, this rock band is fronted by a Tiger!

Rayguns Look Real Enough jump from track to track in a set consisting of various awesome mashups that include samples of anything from rock, pop, dance and even musicals. I lost track of the different chorus lines, rifts and inserts that the duo sang (I’m guessing at least 80-100 samples) all live on stage. Luke Reel (Matt Blair) plays each mashup brilliantly, handling the changing tracks with ease. Meanwhile, Ray Gunn (Ryan Beange) handles the changing vocals and styles with the same effortlessness. Throw it all together and it is one of the most entertaining performances I have seen this year. When a Mashup Hall Of Fame is created I'm sure these guys will be in it.

A must see for music fans, if you can name every track they sample I will give you a Black Diamond FM Sticker (I have a very low budget).

Rayguns Look Real Enough are performing at the Voodoo Rooms at 7:45, Aug 13-24 (not 18th) To find out more and get tickets click HERE
